Small Indian Civet

The small Indian civet (Viverricula indica) is a ‘cat-like’ mammal native to south and southeast Asia. It inhabits grasslands and forested areas, taking shelter in burrows, hollow logs, or dens. This nocturnal species has a varied diet that includes small mammals, birds, insects, snakes, fruits, and carrion. It can be identified by its yellow-brown fur, marked with black dorsal stripes, black spots on the lower half of its body, and alternating black bands around its tail.
