Pycnonotus cafer haemorrhousus is a resident Sri Lankan subspecies of the red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer), found in dry scrub, forests, plains, cropland, and urban areas. Its diet is primarily plant-based, with flowers, seeds and fruits making up the majority of its diet. The species typically produces clutches of two to four eggs in a bowl-shaped nest made of plant material.
