Magpie Robin

The oriental magpie-robin (Copsychus saularis) is widely distributed across the Indian subcontinent and parts of southeast Asia. Males are characterised by black plumage with a white underside, while females are predominantly grey. Both sexes share a distinctive white wingbar. These birds inhabit woodlands, agricultural areas, and gardens and are often observed calling from elevated perches. Though their diet primarily consists of insects, they have also been observed feeding on other invertebrates and small lizards. During the breeding season, they nest in tree hollows or cavities in walls.
