The barred wolf snake (Lycodon striatus), also known as the northern wolf snake, is a non-venomous snake found in dry regions such as semi-deserts and forest margins. They have a dark brown or black body with white, transverse bands along the anterior portion. These nocturnal snakes hide under stones during the day and emerge at night to hunt, primarily feeding on small lizards. During the breeding season, barred wolf snakes lay a small clutch of 2 to 4 eggs, which incubate for 50 to 60 days, depending on geographic location and temperature.
