Painted Lip Lizard

This endemic lizard is found in the lowlands of the dry and intermediate zones up to 500 meters. Primarily inhabiting the edges of monsoonal forests, they are diurnal and arboreal, but sometimes descend to the ground to feed. Usually located 3-4 meters up on large tree trunks in forests and gardens, they prey on insects like butterflies and bees. When threatened, they quickly climb trees for cover. Males display various color patterns, including a brownish-black head with white lips and large white or red patches. They lay around 10 eggs among tree roots.
