The Blue-faced Malkoha is a shy, elusive bird found in the dry zone’s lowland scrub jungles. It has a pale green beak, a blue face, and a light blue ring around each eye. Its white-tipped tail makes it identifiable when seen flying from tree to tree, though it’s difficult to photograph due to its skittish nature. Their diet includes crickets, mantises, and the fruit of the ‘Malithan’ tree. Initially called the Green-billed Malkoha, George Morrison Henry renamed it the Blue-faced Malkoha, as the bird’s distinct blue face made it more fitting than the previous name.
