Black-headed Ibis

The black-headed ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus) is a species of wading bird with white plumage and a distinctive black head, neck, and curved beak. Interestingly, this species undergoes a change in colouration during the breeding season, with the grey tail feathers of adults turning black and patches under the wings and on the nape of the neck becoming red. The black-headed ibis inhabits a variety of natural and man-made habitats, including marshes, wetlands, croplands, reservoirs, and lakes. They are sociable birds, often observed in large flocks, and feed on a variety of small animals such as worms, crustaceans, insects, and frogs.
